One of a periodic exhibition series highlighting the museum’s rich photography collection, Queer Possibility suggests ways of seeing relationships between photography and queerness. Many of the photographs on view—including works by David Wojnarowicz, Catherine Opie, Gerard H. Gaskin, Robert Mapplethorpe, Yasumasa Morimura, and Zanele Muholi—are recent additions to the museum’s collection. Others, such as photographs formerly belonging to the Cincinnati-born collector Carl M. Jacobs III, have been waiting longer for their queer meanings to be recognized and spoken out loud.

What we see in a collection depends on how we look at it. Premiering alongside this exhibition, a new museum guide invites you to look for queer possibility throughout the museum’s galleries and voice your discoveries using #CAMQueerNow.

This exhibition has an accessible pathway.
