Nature/Nurture: Life on the Forest Floor

Nature/Nurture: Life on the Forest Floor

Presented by Pyramid Hill Sculpture Park & Museum at Pyramid Hill Sculpture Park & Museum

Join local Naturalist Carol Mundy for this family-friendly spring walkabout to look for nature’s hidden treasures found on or near the forest floor. On this walk, we slow down to focus our attention on the small and amazing bits of nature. We will be on the lookout for unoccupied animal nests, insect egg cases, emerging beetles (like fireflies), tiny moss forests and more!

About the Instructor:

As a naturalist and speaker, Carol Mundy taught for the University of Cincinnati and Hamilton County Park District and Master Gardeners, leading classes on bird identification and urban wildlife issues, native plants, weed identification, and the historical uses of plants. She continues to offer lectures and workshops in her “retirement.” One of her favorite botanical projects was the design of the historical medicine display for The Ohio Governors’ Residence Heritage Garden & Lloyd Medicinal Garden.

Carol is the recipient of the Citation for Horticulture Education from the Garden Club of Ohio and the long-time host of a weekly radio program “Outdoor Life” on WMKV, featuring unique topics and interviews tying together nature, science, art and culture.

This program is best suited for children 8 years and older along with their favorite adults. Once you are registered and we get closer to the program date, you will be sent information about the exact meeting place at Pyramid Hill. Dress for the weather and wear sturdy shoes that may get wet! This program includes a short walk (under a mile) on uneven ground.
