Learn portrait design and painting, to achieve sophisticated, distinctive portraits!
Capturing the Portrait (in your medium of choice) will improve your portraiture skills through hands on understanding of positioning the head on the canvas, how to define major face planes specific to the individual, and color mixing for light/shadow and different pigmentation. You will see examples from Sketch Group portraits completed in 2.5 hrs. from the Cincinnati Art Club’s weekly Sketch Group sessions and students will be encouraged to also create works in a short period of time.
The series consists of six class sessions starting Thursday April 4 - 4:00-6:00 PM. Students can opt to continue their work during the Sketch Group session following the class which starts at 7:00 PM. Class meets at the Club’s Wessel Gallery, in Mt. Adams, 1021 Parkside Place, Cincinnati, Ohio, near Eden Park.
$250 for CAC Members and $275 for Non-Members.

Classes meet on Thursdays from April 4 to May 16 (note start times different for last two class sessions to give students more time to practice). Students are invited to attend Thursday night Sketch Group at 7 PM to reinforce the learning process. Non-Member Students can also participate up to 3 Sketch Group sessions free of charge.
Students will use their own materials. A supplies list will be furnished.
