Paris, Piano and Pirouettes

Paris, Piano and Pirouettes

Presented by Summermusik (Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra) at School for the Creative and Performing Arts

Music director candidate Daniel Meyer leads Summermusik 2016’s opening night performance Paris, Piano & Pirouettes, a French-inspired program that will take you on a trip to the City of Light. Experience the illustrious musical history of Paris, from pieces inspired by the grandest chateau to the city’s lively night scene. We start at Versailles, where Haydn’s inspiration for “La Reine,” Marie Antoinette, made her home. Then Van Cliburn silver medalist, pianist Joyce Yang makes her CCO debut performing Ravel’s syncopated and jazzy Piano Concerto in G Major. The renowned University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music Dance program will take the stage in a world premiere collaborative performance, set to Copland’s sonic impression of America in Music for Movies, choreographed by professor of modern dance Andre Megerdichian. Maurice Ravel brings our evening to a close in the charming and sensuous Mother Goose Suite.
