An educational outreach program of WVXU/Cincinnati Public Radio, Democracy & Me empowers students, supports teachers, and builds the citizens of tomorrow. We have a student podcast called Democracy & Z, in collaboration with Elementz; a blog with relevant, culturally responsive learning resources around political issues, American history, media literacy, social activism, equality and justice; a YouTube channel featuring our Democracy 101 video series for younger students; a monthly Freedom Friends Book Club exploring revolutionary reads by diverse authors, for youth and adults; a Student Voices Competition each spring, with cash prizes for essays, artwork and other creative expressions around an annual theme; paid high school/college student internships and other pre-professional connections to the WVXU newsroom, bringing more young voices to our local programs like Cincinnati Edition, and more.
