Cincinnati favorite, stunning soprano in recital. Cabell is the Winner of the 2005 BBC Singer of the World Competition.
Universally acclaimed for her velvety timbre and finely nuanced interpretations, soprano Nicole Cabell continually demonstrates her incredible versatility in repertoire ranging from Baroque to contemporary on the world’s greatest opera and concert stages. A Decca recording artist, her solo debut album Soprano was named “Editor’s Choice” by Gramophone and received the 2007 Georg Solti Orphée d’Or from the French Académie du Disque Lyrique as well as Germany’s Echo Klassik Award. She appeared as Musetta in the film version of Puccini’s La Bohème, debuting on PBS in 2009.
One of today’s most sought-after lyric sopranos, Cabell has performed, among other roles, as Bess in James Robinson’s acclaimed production of Porgy and Bess for English National Opera, Juliette in Cincinnati Opera’s Roméo et Juliette, and Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni at Michigan Opera Theater. Following her debut as Handel’s Alcina at Grand Théâtre de Genève, Cabell was praised by Opera Magazine for her “rounded and silky [tone], projected with ease, immaculately controlled.” In addition, she has performed in over a dozen roles with Lyric Opera of Chicago.
