Join us on Saturday, October 29th our artist talk for the exhibition “Alterations in Dystopia” by Susan Ferrari Rowley
This event is part of the 2022 FotoFocus Biennial. Now in its sixth iteration, the Biennial activates over 100 projects at museums, galleries, universities, and public spaces throughout Greater Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky, Dayton and Columbus, Ohio in October 2022.
This event will take place at the Gallery at Studeō PAR, located at 1646 Hoffner Street, (Northside) Cincinnati, OH 45223.

“My process and medium is welded aluminum and hand sewn fabrics combined in sculptures that deal with human emotion. Line, space, and form interact equally in these opposites of hard and soft materials. The interior and exterior of each form, and the negative space in and around each sculpture are equally critical and the fabrics used react changing light, often casting shadows are part of their visual complexity.”

With a decades long artistic practice, Susan Ferrari Rowley has earned a reputation as a master craftswoman. Beginning her career as a sculptor, she discovered early on that her medium of choice was to be fabric. Ferrari Rowley since has played a major role of stimulating the acceptance of fabric as a serious sculptural medium.
A former professor at various institutions including the Rochester Institute of Technology and Monroe Community College, Rowley currently works full time as a practicing sculptor. Several of her prominent shows include “Spatial Delineation” at Five Points Gallery, “Improbable Suspension” at the Delaware Contemporary Museum and was one of seven American artists shown during the “Time/Space/Existence” exhibition at the 2018 Venice Biennial.
