CPS International Jazz Festival

Presented by Cincinnati Arts Association at Aronoff Center for the Arts, Cincinnati OH

Oct 05 2019
CPS International Jazz Festival

Enjoy a dynamic evening of jazz featuring the award-winning Chilean saxophonist Melissa Aldana

The CPS International Jazz Festival provides student-musicians with the exciting opportunity to perform for, listen to, and learn from some of the best professional jazz artists from around the world. Acclaimed jazz musicians will be coming to Cincinnati from Chile, Bulgaria, New York City, and more to lend their experience and expertise to Cincinnati-area students aspiring to develop and refine their own jazz skill set. The festival will be broken down into two parts:

During the Day (9:00 AM – 5:00 PM):
Students learn from professional jazz artists in workshops and clinics; meet, share, and exchange ideas with jazz students from other parts of the world; and perform on stage for adjuncators. This is open to the public, and free to attend.

In The Evening (7:00 PM):
Jazz-loving Cincinnatians are invited to an international jazz performance, featuring the award-winning Chilean saxophonist Melissa Aldana and her international jazz group, Todor Bakardjiev (Bulgaria), the Pipkov National Music School Jazz Ensemble (Bulgaria), pianist Shamie Royston (New York City), Escuela Superior de Jazz Sextet (Chile), and the CPS Elementary Jazz Academy Orchestra. This performance is $10, and all proceeds go toward creating and sustaining music programming at Cincinnati Public Schools.
