art detail of work by Cynthia Lockhart
Exhibit of work from renown art-quilter, Cynthia Lockhart.
The Weavers Guild of Greater Cincinnati announces the exhibition “Fibercations that Sing” by renown, local artist Cynthia Lockhart. Cynthia Lockhart is an acclaimed art-quilter, a popular exhibitor, and the recipient of many awards. Her creations feature vibrant colors and curvilinear shapes and are inspired by her African heritage, her love of music and dance, and her faith and family. A high point in her artistic life was the acquisition in 2022 of her Created to Be Me quilt by the Smithsonian American Art Museum’s Renwick Gallery.
Lockhart’s art quilts feature vibrant, pulsating colors and irregular shapes and patterns. Her professional background in fashion design explains the incorporation of three-dimensionality in her creations. She wants her artworks to tell stories as well, with the outcome that viewers will better understand the diversity of people, cultures, and definitions of beauty in the world.
