Steven Thurston
Please join us for an informal and informative Gallery Talk with exhibiting artist Steven Thurston.
The Weston Art Gallery is hosting a conversation with Steven Thurston on Saturday, December 10th at 2pm.
Fascinated by history and the alchemy of porcelain, Thurston (Columbus, OH) explores notions of authenticity and the compelling arena of translation. Through an ongoing series of iconic porcelain busts depicting the founding fathers of the United States, he examines translational misunderstanding and conflicting mythologies surrounding the subjects. Lost in Translation – Deception and Desire runs from November 18, 2022 – January 15, 2023.
The Weston’s annual Gallery Talk Series of public lectures and informal talks provides a rare opportunity for the public to meet the presenting artists and enjoy the ensuing dialogue. Every Gallery Talk provides a unique insight into the passion, curiosity, materials, and creative process of each artist and their discipline. All talks are FREE and open to the public. Refreshments are provided.
