Contemporary dance performance that uses the Monarch butterfly as a symbol for immigration and seeks to pay homage to those who get lost on their immigration journeys.
Immigrants are similar to Monarch butterflies in that they often have to fly in order to survive. Life is fragile like the wings of a butterfly, and many perish while trying to arrive to their “sanctuary” like Cincinnati, which was named a Sanctuary City in 2017. This project is dedicated to those without a voice, as well as those who have been lost on the way, and attempts to pay homage to those who have never been recovered.
