Join us for an evening of stimulating conversation with opera expert Fred Plotkin about Beethoven’s Fidelio, the depiction of freedom by composers and librettists, and audience response.

Opera Rap: The Search for Freedom at the Opera

In opera, there are many characters whose freedom is delayed or denied. This summer, Cincinnati Opera presents one of the greatest operas examining this very topic, Beethoven’s Fidelio. In a fascinating presentation, opera expert Fred Plotkin will explore how composers and librettists depict the many aspects of freedom and how today’s audiences can respond to them. Join us for an evening of stimulating conversation surrounding this relevant topic through the lens of opera.
