Come see The Wolves by Sarah Delappe, a wonderful play where a girls soccer team navigates big questions. A portrait of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness for nine American girls who just want to score some goals.
Director’s Note:
Teenagers get a bad rep. And too often teen girls specifically are stereotyped as “bitchy” and “overdramatic.” The Wolves takes these stereotypes and challenges our perception. Are teenagers really “overdramatic,” or are they just coping with an enormous amount of stress as they are constantly faced with the pressure to act and make decisions like young adults even though they are still only technically children? Teens are constantly being asked to do a balancing act between adulthood and childhood. The Wolves gives an inside peek to the real messy, complicated, and raw struggles teenage girls go through on a daily basis. If you thought this show was about soccer…I have bad news for you. It’s about everything EXCEPT the soccer.
