CASA is happy to present Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike a play by Christopher Durang!
“Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike” by Christopher Durang
Called “hugely entertaining” by USA Today, this brilliant comedy by Christopher Durang explores what it means to be a family. Vanya and Sonia, two siblings named after Chekhov characters, sit every day in their morning room and bicker, dissatisfied with their empty lives. Their peaceful existence is interrupted by the arrival of their glamorous movie-star sister, Masha, and her attractive but socially unaware companion, Spike. Cassandra, the cleaning lady straight out of a Greek tragedy, and Nina, a young aspiring actress, add to the chaos and the comedy. Old conflicts between siblings resurface, culminating in a threat to sell the house.
10% of the proceeds will be donated to the Alzheimer’s Association in Cincinnati. Christopher Durang, was diagnosed with logopenic progressive aphasia in 2016, commonly caused by Alzheimer’s, shortly after the successful broadway run of VSMS. Alzheimer’s affects so many people and their loved ones, so we wanted to do what we could to help raise awareness and give the spotlight to this amazing non-profit organization.
