2018 Oxford Enlightenment Festival

Presented by Oxford Community Arts Center at Oxford Community Arts Center

 This year OCAC will present 6 free concerts for the community at the usual Monday 6PM time, all under the watchful eye of Bruce Murray.  Holy Trinity Episcopal Church will host four additional programs on Wednesday at 12:15PM.

MONDAY CONCERTS AT OXFORD COMMUNITY ARTS CENTER
10 South College Ave, Oxford, Ohio

June 25
Cole Tutino, cello
A recital by Miami University cello professor Cole Tutino, including summer fare from Cassaod and Popper and Brahms's mighty Cello Sonata No. 1.

July 2
Bruce Murray, piano
“Invisible”: A recital of important music for piano solo by composers who were too long ignored or forgotten.  Includes works by Fanny Mendelssohn Hensel and Florence Price.

July 9
Music of Francis Poulenc
A program of music by Poulenc, the most French of French composers who married the concert hall to the cabaret.  Includes the Oboe Sonata performed by Andrea Ridilla and “The Story of Babar,” Poulenc’s musical setting of Jean de Brunhoff’s immortal children’s book, with narrator Julia Guichard.

Bach Ensemble of St. Thomas
The Bach Ensemble of St. Thomas under Carlton Monroe visits from Cincinnati for a program of Baroque music by Bach, Handel, A. Scarlatti, and Buxtehude.

July 11
Jaime Morales-Matos, trombone
A recital by Jaime Morales-Matos, one of Ohio’s most renowned and versatile musicians.  Includes a virtuoso arrangement of Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Bluefor trombone and piano.
