20 X 20 X 20: CELEBRATING 20 YEARS OF THE WESTON ART GALLERY AND THE ARONOFF CENTER FOR THE ARTS

CINCINNATI, Ohio—On Friday, January 29, from 6 to 8 p.m., the Cincinnati Arts Association’s Alice F. and Harris K. Weston Art Gallery in the Aronoff Center for the Arts will open 20 x 20 x 20 and Salli LoveLarkin: Artist, two new exhibitions that celebrate the twenty-year history of the Weston Art Gallery and its creation within the Aronoff Center for the Arts. (See separate press release for Salli LoveLarkin: Artist).

Conceived as a space for celebration of the multitude of talented visual artists in the city and region, the Weston Art Gallery will mark the twentieth anniversary of the Aronoff Center for the Arts by presenting 20 x 20 x 20, twenty works of art created by twenty select artists and artistic collaborators from the Gallery’s first two decades of programming—some whose careers were well-established before the building opened and others who have since gained significant artistic reputations.

The artists chosen, selected from more than 150 solo exhibitions presented at the Weston since its inception in 1995, will provide a cross section of the many diverse artistic approaches the Gallery has showcased throughout its history. Painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, installation, and video will be featured. Artists participating include Tom Bacher, Mary Jo Bole, Jay Bolotin, Carmel Buckley, Denise Burge, Cole Carothers, Ana England and Steven Finke (collaboration), Tracy Featherstone, Mark Fox, Robert Fry, Diana Duncan Holmes, Tim McMichael, Emily Hanako Momohara, Deborah Morrissey-McGoff, a reunion of the Neo-Ancestralists (Jimi Jones, Ken Leslie, Thomas Phelps), Danielle Julian Norton, Todd Slaughter, TODT, Joseph Winterhalter, and Charles Woodman.

In conjunction with the artists’ work, a “visual survey” of the Weston Art Gallery will be presented in the street-level exhibition space of printed materials effectively representing a time line of the Gallery’s history through exhibition posters, announcement cards, catalogues, and special event mailers culled from the archives.
