Led by Artist April Sunami, this exhibit will challenge young artists to think of portraiture as a form of storytelling. Sunami has spent well over 15 years creating portraits of women utilizing a variety of mixed media. Each item that she uses helps to tell the story of the subject she is portraying. Together with Sunami, young apprentice artists will explore narrative and finding meaning through mixed mediums.
This show will feature the self-portraits of the participants, and a collaborative artwork. The event is free to attend.
At the event, we invite the community to create a tile in response to the prompt “I Am….” Or “We are…” using paint markers and washi tape. The pieces will be added to the collaborative piece to be displayed in the gallery.
ArtWorks V² Gallery is made possible through the generosity of V², also known as Vandell Verdona, a collaboration between longtime ArtWorks supporters Sara and Michelle Vance Waddell and Ron Houck and David Nebel. Special thanks to Model Group for supporting this gallery.
