Ballet 1 Dance Class

Ballet I is an age-appropriate ballet class where children will learn basic ballet techniques while working on coordination, balance, flexibility, and musicality. The first part of the lesson (20 minutes or so) will be practice of the preparatory floor exercises for ballet with different combinations in order to build the core strength. In second part of the class, the children will learn correct body alignment and the basic of correct classical ballet technique. The ballet terminology is also taught at this level. The barre will be added as the class advances (more towards the second part of the year) as well as moving through the space with different movement modalities. (60 min. class) Children’s Ballet Classes: Girls-need to wear a leotard (preferably pink or black, but not mandatory), light pink tights, and light pink ballet slippers (could be leather or fabric, and make sure they fit properly – not big!). No skirts. Boys– need to wear a white t-shirt, black tights, sweats or shorts, and black or white leather or fabric ballet shoes.
