Clay Handbuilding (via Zoom) - Postponed until 2/7/22

Jump in on the fun and learn the three basic hand building forming processes: pinch, slab and coiling and glazing to create your own functional and/or sculptural pieces are of art.

In light of the current surge of COVID-19 cases in our region and in an effort to protect the health and safety of our community, Kennedy Heights Arts Center has decided to delay the start of upcoming classes by two weeks.
 
Furthermore, in response to requests from registered students and the instructor, Clay Hand Building will begin remotely in an online format, via Zoom, with the possibility of returning to in-person instruction, as circumstances allow. 

Updated Schedule:

Class meets via Zoom:
Mondays, 6:30 – 8:30pm
Dates: February 7, 14, 21, 28  // March 7, 14, 21, 28
13 – Adult. Instructor: Lynne Gibb.
Tuition: $160 or sliding scale  (as low as $16)

NOTE: Clay will available for pick up from the KHAC Art Shop between 10am-5pm on Friday 2/4/2022  or 11am-4pm on Saturday 2/5/2022

Students supply their own tools:

Basic 8-piece pottery tool kit, ~$8.99
Canvas, denim, or strong cotton cloth to work on
Small note pad to keep track of glazes
Rolling pin
Turn-table / banding wheel (optional)

Join our Clay Hand Building class to jump in on the fun, where we will instruct you in the three basic hand building forming processes: pinch, slab and coiling. Glazing will also be covered in this exciting class. Students will have the opportunity to make functional and sculptural pieces of ceramic art.

SLIDING SCALE: Kennedy Heights Arts Center strives to make arts accessible to everyone. Sliding scale fees available for those in financial need. Click here to download an application. Completed applications can be emailed to bethany@kennedyarts.org or dropped off in-person at KHAC.

CANCELLATION POLICY: Tuition is non-refundable, but can be transferred to another course if the student withdraws at least five days prior to the beginning of the course.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update

Info regarding how this event is being affected by the Coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis.:

In light of the current surge of COVID-19 cases in our region and in an effort to protect the health and safety of our community, Kennedy Heights Arts Center has decided to delay the start of upcoming classes by two weeks.Clay Hand Building will begin remotely in an online format, via Zoom, with the possibility of returning to in-person instruction, as circumstances allow.  General KHAC COVID-19 Health & Safety:  Our COVID safety plan includes small group sizes, socially distant spacing, masks required, HEPA air purifiers, required vaccinations for instructors, staff, and volunteers, and either proof of vaccination or weekly negative COVID-19 test results for students. the Art Center is also updating our COVID Safety Policy to include the following requirements: All employees and instructors are now required to provide proof they are up-to-date with vaccinations against COVID-19, including having received any additional vaccine doses they are eligible for. Students attending in-person classes will be required to provide either proof of up-to-date vaccination against COVID-19 (including any additional vaccine doses they are eligible for) or weekly recent negative COVID test results. Everyone, regardless of vaccination status, will be required to wear high quality, tight fitting N95, KN95 or KF94 masks over their mouth and nose, at all times while indoors at Kennedy Heights Arts Center. Cloth and surgical masks will no longer be considered sufficient.
