NKU dance Professor Tracy Bonner will talk about the role of the arts in bringing attention and change in the face of injustice. But this won’t be an ordinary “lecture.” As their professor speaks, NKU students will interpret her words in dance.
Northern Kentucky University’s Scripps Howard Center for Civic Engagement is hosting its 14th season of the Six@Six Community Lecture Series, designed to showcase research and creative activity by NKU’s students and faculty. This season, the focus is on democracy in America. “Democracy and the Arts” is the third lecture in the series.
Our partner is the Nancy and David Wolf Holocaust & Humanity Center, where a theme brought to the fore by its exhibits is how to be an upstander — that is, someone who sees injustice and stands up against it. Professor Bonner and her students will dance on the Union Terminal auditorium stage just across the hall from the Holocaust & Humanity Center entrance.
Dancers sharing the stage with their professor will be: Maiya Caldwell, Arianna Catalno, Madisyn McLaughlin, Lavette Patterson and Kasey Weinfurtner.
