Denise Foster: Stargazing & Other Stories

Painter Denise Foster brings her solo exhibition “Stargazing & Other Stories” to the Westheimer Gallery, August 6 – 28, 2021.

The SCAC and Westheimer Gallery would like to welcome painter Denise Foster and her solo exhibition, Stargazing & Other Stories, for August 2021!

An artist using a palette knife to add texture, interest and abstraction to her paintings, Denise started her journey more than 20 years ago with a desire to learn and experience the wonder of painting. Since that time, she has attended classes, workshops and seminars in order to build her knowledge and skill base, exploring other mediums and finding a love for oil on canvas. Extensive research, instruction and travelling the U.S. and France with fellow artists and teachers has enhanced her intuitiveness, creativity and reference material. Her expressive use of thick paints and palette knife give a sense of energy, emotion and body. Her paintings live and continue their stories in homes from Canada to Florida, California to Vermont.

Join us for our FIRST FRIDAY Reception Party opening the exhibit on Friday August 6 from 5:30 – 7:30PM.  Our August First Friday event is generously sponsored by LaRosa’s Family Pizzeria Sharonville / The Meiners Group.

Stargazing & Other Stories runs through Saturday August 28.
Westheimer Gallery exhibitions and First Friday events are free and open to the public.

From the Artist:
“A painting with blocks of lush color, thick paint and visible strokes catches my eye, along with abstracted shapes and implied movement. Color is my main interest and the beginnings of my paintings usually start out with unformed, unrestricted beautiful color shapes that pique imagination and feeling. My go-to subject is floral because of their varied shapes and light-changing colors. Applying paint with a palette knife adds texture, interest and abstraction. The painting is complete when I can see that it adds beauty or joy to my day.”
