Mutual Dance Theatre offers a FREE NIGHT of its Up-Close Series through a public open dress rehearsal on Thursday, November 30 7:45pm.
Thanks to special funding from Arts Midwest, Mutual Dance Theatre is able to open our doors for a free performance during our dress rehearsal on Thursday, November 30 for Up-Close, a series that sells out every year. We have special performances that are especially immersive, surrounding the audience’s five senses: two world premieres, by Countess V. Winfrey (of Dayton Contemporary Dance Company) and Stevie Lamblin (formerly of DCDC and Mutual Dance Theatre).
The free evening is first-come, first-serve, but we encourage you to RSVP seats at mutualdance.org/freeshow. The seats will be held up until 7:45pm, at which point, they will be released to anyone waiting for an opening. SOMEWHERE, THEY FREED THEMSELVES BY COUNTESS V. WINFREY
“Somewhere, They Freed Themselves” is a visual exploration of the ways we search for freedom. Visual projections and a large table create a landscape and provide hope that each viewer can also find their own spaces of liberation.
BE’S BY STEVIE LAMBLIN
Simply put, “Be’s” is about being…and bees! In a society that pushes women to overwork, “Be’s” is a commentary on individuation and the struggles we face to attain it in today’s culture.
TINY AUDIENCES, BIG DANCE
Join us again for the fourth installment of the renamed series, Up-Close where small groups of audiences sit in-the-round to witness dance up-close.
This black box series allows Mutual Dance Theatre to experiment with more than what is possible on a traditional stage: from involving audiences to immersive stage effects.
Prior world premieres in this series have been regarded by audiences as some of the best work they’ve seen by the resident company.
