Mutual Dance Theatre and Arts Center

Mutual Dance Theatre and Arts Center is a non-profit Modern Dance organization that provides performance, education, and outreach. The dance company was one of three to receive National Endowment for the Arts funding to create a new performance work here in Cincinnati in 2017. The organization recently changed its name from MamLuft&Co. Dance and will be merging with Contemporary Dance Theater by the fall of 2021.

Founded in 2007, Mutual Dance Theatre and Arts Center works to bring more Modern Dance (and a better understanding of it) to more people. MūDa’s resident company of artists connects with the community through innovative, palpable, and accessible dance.

The organization’s education wing sees over 200+ kids a week in numerous neighborhoods, providing instruction in Modern Dance, Ballet, Jazz, and Tap.

Mutual Dance Theatre’s artistic work is known for its focus on creating new evening-length works. Through highly collaborative processes, the company produces intricately staged, physically-demanding dance theatre. To reduce barriers to arts experiences, and Modern Dance in particular, its subject matter aims to be universally-resonant across cultures, classes, and backgrounds, addressing such issues as belonging, shifts of power, communal resolution, and, recently, aging and memory loss. The company creates works for the stage, as well as for the camera, including two half-hour films, Latitude (2012) and Unyielding (2015).
