Marriage is a rigorously rehearsed, completely unscripted exploration of the ultimate commitment between two people. Staged so that players explicitly share and struggle for agency and spectatorial attention with (and as) the married characters they create, the pacts of improvised theatre and marriage begin to mimic and reveal each other.
Producer Biography
ED came together originally as a collective in Chicago, devising and producing innovative, fully-improvised works, which garnered national attention in the 1990’s. Since that time, we have continued our investigation of the limits and possibilities of improvised theatre. Marriage is the result of 5 years of collaboration. It was performed in progress as “In the Room” at the Tony Award winning Lookingglass Theatre in 2015.
