Charismatic violinist and Gold Medalist 1992 J.S. Bach International Violin Competition in recital

A leading interpreter of the great classical masterworks, violinist Rachel Barton Pine thrills audiences with her dazzling technique, lustrous tone and emotional honesty. With an infectious joy in music-making and a passion for connecting historical research to performance, Pine transforms audiences’ experiences of classical music.  She has appeared as soloist with many of the world’s most prestigious ensembles including the Chicago and Vienna Symphonies, Philadelphia Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic and Camerata Salzburg.   In recital, she has appeared as part of Lincoln Center’s Great Performers series. Pine has appeared internationally as a soloist with prominent ensembles and has worked with renowned conductors and collaborators.  She also is an avid performer of baroque, Renaissance and medieval music.  She writes her own cadenzas, performing many of her own arrangements as encores. With Carl Fischer’s publication of “The Rachel Barton Pine Collection,” she became the only living artist and first woman in Fischer’s Masters Collection series.  Pine has a prolific discography, with 38 albums.  She also is an active philanthropist, leading the Rachel Barton Pine Foundation since 2001.  Pine performs on the “ex-Bazzini, ex-Soldat” Joseph Guarnerius del Gesu violin (Cremona, 1742), on lifetime loan from her patron.

“An exciting, boundary-defying performer –Pine displays a power and confidence that puts her in the top echelon.”
