Mindful Poetry Virtual Gathering (Free)

Presented by The Well at Online/Virtual Space

Apr 17 2024
Mindful Poetry Virtual Gathering (Free)

Each year during April for National Poetry Month, The Well holds virtual space for poets and poetry lovers for an hour of nourishing community and creativity. This session is #3 of 5.

The format is simple. In each session, we meditate, consider a single poem, receive a prompt, write, and then share with the group.

Poems generated by attendees during this session can be submitted for publication in our 5th anniversary of the Mindful Poetry Moments anthology!

This year’s poems have been curated by translator, vocalist, composer, poet, and educator Haleh Liza Gafori.

In this session

About the Facilitators

Morley (she/her) is a singer, producer, composer and educator who weaves the threads of jazz, soul, and folk traditions into a singular tapestry of vocal and acoustic splendor – the sound wave or a life lived with uncommon devotion to human rights and environmental justice. To date, Morley has released seven albums and spearheaded the successful fundraiser Borderless Lullabies that continues to be a source of revenue for the pro-bono legal defense fund, KIND: Kids – In – Need – Of – Defense, to aid reuniting children with their families after being separated by ICE. She recently released a globally conscious children/family album, Story of the Sky with her husband, Chris Bruce, under the name, ‘The Bruces”.

Mindful Poetry Moments, incubated with The On Being Project, offers a chance to pause and reflect on poetry’s ability to encounter ourselves, the world, and the mystery of each other.

This special collaboration began as a way to provide young students an opportunity to encounter poetry in the course of a normal school day during National Poetry Month and has expanded to reach poetry lovers of all ages.
