The goal of this class is to teach students Musical Theater skills (speaking, singing, acting and dancing) while working together to stage a fabulous production at the end of each session. (Productions TBA.) Rehearsing and presenting a musical will foster students’ creativity, responsibility, independence, teamwork, and dedication. It will also strengthen social/communication skills and self-esteem through students’ learning to work together and taking pride in their accomplishments. Theater has a unique characteristic of combining the elements of study and play. Students will look forward to rehearsals and performances because they will be having fun while at the same time boosting valuable academic skills: enhancing reading (learning and performing lines), math (designing sets), and social studies (exploring settings, characters and choreography). The class will culminate with a dynamic performance at the end of the session. Material worked on is different the two sessions offered, and students are welcomed to sign-up for the second session without attending the first. Ages 8 – 14. **It is recommended to join this class at the beginning of the semester for ideal casting purposes. Most casting decisions are made during week two. Classes may be joined after week one in which case the cost can be prorated. Register online at http://www.musicartdance.org/musical-theater-class/ or call us at 513-948-1900.
