On the Wild Side: The Animal in Fiber Art by Teresa Nieberding

The eighty animals featured in this whimsical art exhibition will be of mixed media fiber art. Teresa’s passion for animals as well as endangered species will also be highlighted with five one of a kind pieces of art.

Artist Teresa Nieberding is well known to all Cincinnatians who have frequented Winter Fair and The Hyde Park Art Show. Over the years her creative whimsical art has been featured in galleries in Cincinnati and in Rug Hooking Magazine. The Woman’s Art Club Cultural Center is excited to showcase her three and a half year “Walk on the Wild Side” body of art at The Barn from September 23 – October 6, 2021. It will be an exciting two week exhibit with several different opportunities for people to examine her techniques as the eighty animals featured will be of mixed media fiber art.

The artist’s reception is Saturday September 24th from 1 -4pm.

You can visit this exhibit on weekdays from 10am – 4pm, and on weekends from 1 – 4pm.

Teresa’s passion for animals as well as endangered species will also be highlighted with five one of a kind pieces of art focusing on a needle felted Monarch Butterfly and Amur Leopard, a rug hooked Northern Spotted Owl and Sumatran Rhino, and an appliqued now extinct Dodo. CREW and The Cincinnati Zoo will be on hand for a gallery talk on the endangered animals on September 26 from 1 – 3:30pm.. Dr. Jessye Wojtusik, a wildlife physiologist from the Lindner Center for Conservation and Research of Endangered Species will also be presenting a program and the five artists that collaborated on the five endangered animals will be introduced. You can register for this talk HERE.

Teresa has been actively creating mixed media fiber art since 1994. She is a Certified Megellan trained rug hooker and self-taught needle felting artist. Sauder Village is just one of the many places that has experienced her encouragement and teaching abilities over the years. She currently has her studio at The Loveland Art Studios on Main and with this particular exhibit she focused on not only learning about each individual animal, but capturing their distinct personalities with her art. You can visit her website HERE.

Teresa will also be giving a gallery talk to describe her work and her process on September 28th from 6:30-9pm. Her classes at The Barn on Needle Felting and Flat Felting have sold out. Admission to events is free although donations are gladly accepted.
