Poetry: Holzman / Wagner / Thomas

Presented by Chase Public at Chase Public, Cincinnati OH

Nov 11 2016
Poetry: Holzman / Wagner / Thomas

Chase Public is excited to host a reading from poets Scott Holzman, Kelly Thomas, and Catherine Wagner.

Scott Holzman is the executive director of Chase Public, a collaborative space for art and assembly in the Northside neighborhood of Cincinnati. He is a principal author/architect of “Seven Hills and a Queen to Name Them,” a massively collaborative poem which was turned into more than 50 public art installations and tattooed on 263 people. He has recent work appearing in Courage Friends, The Boog City Reader, and some obscure one off publication in northern France that he can’t remember the name of. He’s sort of a slave to concept, really loves baseball, and can’t handle watching people brush their teeth.

Catherine Wagner’s collections of poetry include Nervous Device (City Lights, 2012), My New Job (Fence, 2009), Macular Hole (Fence, 2004), and Miss America (Fence, 2001). Her work has appeared in the Norton Anthology of Postmodern American Poetry, Gurlesque, Poets on Teaching, The Volta Book of Poets, Best American Erotic Poems and other anthologies, and her performances and songs are archived on PennSound. She is professor, director of the creative writing program, and a founder and active member of the AAUP Chapter at Miami University in Oxford, OH, where she lives with her son.

Kelly Thomas graduated from the MA Program at Miami University of Ohio (2014); she received her MFA, in poetry, from Butler University (2011). Currently, she teaches composition and literature courses at Xavier University and Northern Kentucky University. Her recent awards/honors include a first place scholarship to attend the Antioch Writers’ Workshop and a paid post-graduate fellowship, as Writer-in-Residence, at WordPlay. Her poems have appeared in Genesis and The Efroymson Anthology; she is currently at work on publishing her first collection of poems—Box, Me.
