Abstract Expressionist Priya Rama presents her solo show of paintings and poems, “Inside Out: Interplay Between Mark and Word,” at the Westheimer Gallery for May 2023.
The Westheimer Gallery is proud to present Inside Out: Interplay Between Mark and Word by Priya Rama for May 2023! Priya is our grand prize winner of Art North 2022, our annual year-end juried show.
Abstract Expressionist Priya Rama’s art is born from her chronic migraines. When one begins, along with the pain and pressure, colors and shapes appear in her mind’s eye. These get transformed into hyperchromatic paintings of resilience. Often, completing a painting acts as a release, reminding us that the mind can do more than just process pain: It can transform pain into beauty.
Priya has been interviewed by Jane Pauley for CBS Sunday Morning, which aired on February 16, 2020, as well as by WebMD. She has also been interviewed for multiple print and online publications, as well as radio, and has presented to several art therapy groups. Priya’s paintings can be found in private and corporate collections around the country.
FROM THE ARTIST: Inside Out: Interplay Between Mark and Word shows word and mark, side by side, with the painting and the poem it inspired hanging next to one another. Together, word and art will impress upon the viewer conversations occurring under the surface.

PARKING: Parking is available in the SCAC lot at the corner of Reading Rd and Walnut St, on our building's south side. Additional free public parking is available in City of Sharonville lots, located around the corner on Walnut behind Cliff Hardware, as well as behind PNC Bank at Reading Rd and Creek Rd.
DIRECTIONS: From I-275: Take exit 46 to Lebanon Rd (US-42). Head south on US 42. Stay to the right on Reading Road. Turn right at Walnut Street.
From I-75: Take exit 15 to head east on Sharon Road. Follow to the left onto Main Street (one-way). Turn left on Walnut Street.
