Van Gogh "Cherrywood" Travelling Quilt Show

Fiber Art at The Barn (FAB) and the Contemporary Quilt and Fiber Art group (CQAFA) are sponsoring this special exhibit. The winning Van Gogh “French” and “Dutch” Collections of an international quilt competition, sponsored by Cherrywood Fabrics, will be on display in the Loft from 10am-5pm Tuesday through Friday, and 1-4m on the weekends. Two hundred twenty inch square quilts will be on display that will delight art patrons who admire Van Gogh’s life and works.

The quilts have been traveling around the United States, Europe, and Australia for the last year as two exhibits, due to the size of the exhibit. Cincinnati is the last stop on the tour and the Barn is honored to have both exhibits on display in the newly renovated loft space. Ten greater Cincinnati residents were also juried into the exhibits. These artists will be on hand, as well as other members of the Contemporary Quilt and Fiber Art group, to help visitors understand the exhibit and point out amazing fiber art techniques found on the quilts.

Each year Cherrywood Fabrics challenges art quilters with a hand dyed fabric color and subject. Artists have six months to create a 20 x 20 inch art quilt to enter the contest with a quilt based on that subject. In 2017 the subject was Vincent Van Gogh. Award ribbons are given as well as sponsor awards, however most art quilters are honored to have thousands of quilters and art patrons view their work. The following artists from the greater Cincinnati area will have their work on display: Susan Austin, Cris Fee, Jenny Graham, Nora McFarlane, Larry McKenny, Sue Paas, Robbie Porter, Carole Price, Betsy Terrill, and Lynn Ticotsky.
