An exhibition of new works by 10 artists and 10 poets exploring the promise and reality of “freedom”, presented by Juneteenth Cincinnati.
Juneteenth Cincinnati presents Voices of Freedom, an exhibition of commissioned new works by 10 regional and national artists, paired with poems by 10 local writers, exploring the promise and reality of “freedom” as experienced by those whose lives and destinies were touched by emancipation. Curated by Michael Coppage (visual art) and MoPoetry Phillips (poetry).
Artists include: Desmond Beach, Mark Anthony Brown Jr., Kierston Ghaznavi, Jeni Jenkins, Fatima Laster, Dave McClinton, Komikka Patton, Blake Pierre, Vitus Shell, Michael Thompson. Poets include: MoPoetry Phillips, Jacqueline “Gifted” Johnson-Wilkinson, Kimberly “Duwaup” Bolden, SoL, Dawn “The Psalmist” Crooks, Victoria Cipriani, Queens Jurnee, Manual Iris, ASlate, Golden Goddess.
Join us for an opening reception for Voices of Freedom on February 26 from 6-8pm at Kennedy Heights Arts Center’s Lindner Annex. Spoken word performances by participating poets at 7pm.
Masks and proof of COVID vaccination or negative COVID test result required for entry.
Exhibitions runs through March 26, 2022. Gallery hours are Tuesday and Thursday 12-6pm, and by appointment.
