Melvin Grier: It Was Always About the Work Opening Reception

One by One, late 1970s, digital scan from black and white negative 13.25" x 8.5", The Cincinnati Post

Join the Weston Art Gallery for the opening of artist Melvin Grier’s exhibition, It Was Always About the Work.

Melvin Grier (Cincinnati, OH) spent over thirty years honing his skills as a photographer working for The Cincinnati Post, documenting news events and the people of Cincinnati. When the Post ceased publication in 2007, he used that opportunity to expand his creative development and pursue his passion for photography as an independent artist. This survey of his work features the people and places that capture Grier’s photographic journey throughout his long and accomplished career.

Exhibition tours will be available with our Docentitos youth docents the night of the opening and by request throughout the summer. Contact Vanessa Holmes at for more information.

A Gallery Talk with Melvin Grier will be held on Tuesday, June 20, at 7 p.m.

The exhibition runs June 16 – August 20, 2023. The Gallery will be closed on Tuesday, July 4.

Exhibition Co-Sponsors: Vanessa and Rick Wayne, Sue Ann and Judge Mark Painter

Exhibition Support: Pamela and Lennell Myricks, Jr.
